First, on February 19, I said goodbye to my job on 5 South. On February 22, I said hello to my new job and Cancer and Hematology Centers of Western Michigan. So far, I'm three weeks into my new role, and really liking it. I like the flow of coming into an office that's just waking up for the day, as well as leaving an office at the end of the day that's shutting down for the night. There's no more "here are your four patients and one of them looks like they're going to crash" kind of mornings. My new position is still busy, but a better fit for me. It also has the added benefit of me being able to have dinner each night with Andrew and spend my weekends with him.
Second, on February 29, the MacLeod clan gathered in Florida to say goodbye to my grandmother. It was a very rich time as we grieved and laughed together. As my sister Emily said, the MacLeods don't gather all together very often, but in this family, it's not because of a lack of affection. This family loves deeply and strongly and it's such a honor to call myself a MacLeod. Even as we gathered to say goodbye to Grandma, we also were blessed to say hello to our newest member, my cousin's eight-week-old son.
And now, this past week, we closed on our new house and our old house on the same day, and this weekend we moved into our new home, saying hello to the new house and goodbye to our last home on the same day. There's still plenty of settling in to happen, and it will, in the next several days or weeks...or months. But today we are taking a Sabbath from work. Currently, it's raining steadily outside and I'm sitting by the fireplace writing to you while Andrew naps. The boxes will still be there waiting to be unpacked tomorrow, but for today, they'll stay packed as we rest after a busy month filled with changes. This isn't the 2016 we expected, but it's very good, and we are thankful to God for the many ways He has bestowed His love and blessings upon us.
