Keeping Up With August

We can hardly believe it's already August 17!  This month has been passing us by very quickly, in large part because we've been busy enjoying seeing many of you before our journey begins.

The first weekend in August we drove to Cleveland to spend the weekend with Kim, Garry, and Grandpa Webster.  We had a most delightful lunch date with my Aunt Cindy and Uncle Kevin on our way.

Andrew spent a good portion of our time in Cleveland fixing everyone's computers.  We took a break long enough to go out to ice cream with Grandpa, though.  Since Grandpa was unable to travel to New Jersey the following weekend for Kim & Garry's wedding, I assisted Kim in showing Grandpa her wedding dress.

After returning home and working for a few days, we spent the second weekend of August in New Jersey celebrating Kim & Garry and their wedding with friends and family from all over the world.  Saturday consisted of a bridal shower, nail appointments, the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, and a bachelorette party for Kim, which of course, included dancing.

Sunday, August 10 was the big day.  The whole day was beautiful: the groom handsome, the bride gorgeous, the bridesmaids as kind, lovely, and helpful as any ever were, the groomsmen making sure everyone laughed often, and a multitude of wonderful family members from the US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and England.

Monday, we did some obligatory, touristy photos in downtown Ocean City, met up with Kim & Garry for lunch, and said our "see-you-laters" to the new Mr. & Mrs. Jennings at the airport.

Congratulations, Kim & Garry - it was a lovely wedding and a beautiful time spent with family.  Thank you for bringing us all together.  We look forward to our next meeting!

The third weekend in August we spent Saturday at a local amusement park, Michigan's Adventure, with some of our wonderful friends from college.  The beautiful, sunny weather led to very long lines in the early part of the day, but things started thinning out by mid afternoon, and a short early evening downpour allowed for almost no wait for any ride for the final few hours the park was open.  We had a great time riding roller coasters and water rides with some of the best friends life has to offer.

And now, as the weekend is coming to a close, we enter into the final week before Andrew leaves for Carlisle.  It's suddenly feeling very real to both of us.  We are so grateful to have seen so many of you in the past few weeks and we ask your continued prayers.  Pray that amidst work, meetings, potlucks, ultimate frisbee, and packing, that we find quiet and peaceful moments with each other and with God.  We pray that God will carry us through this week and into our time apart.
