Five Loaves & Two Weeks

As many of you know, Andrew and I have been participating regularly in a Thursday night Bible Study for young adults.  This group has a solid core of really neat folks, but it's also a very fluid group.  Many of the people who come are students or missionaries, so there are constantly people joining and moving on.  Because of this, in the short time we've been here, we've become rather "long-term" compared to many.  We've so enjoyed getting to know this group and will be very sad to say goodbye next week.

But first, this week, Andrew and I have the opportunity to lead the discussion.  We're really excited to see God work in this group.  We would love for you to be in prayer for us as we prepare and lead, and as the group receives God's word through us.  Pray that we would be open vessels to do the Father's work.  We desire this night to be entirely about God and for Him to receive all the glory and honor.

As we prepare for leading this, I am reminded of a blog posted by Hannah a while back (I used her title for this post).  If you have the time, it's a great read, but if not, here's the summary:  In Matthew 14, after Jesus has been preaching, his disciples tell him to send the people back to town to find something to eat.  Jesus tells the disciples to feed the people.  The disciples don't know how Jesus expects them to do this as they only have 5 loaves and 2 fish, but Jesus says, "give them to me" and Jesus did amazing things with them - feeding 5,000 with 12 baskets left over.

Andrew and I have less than two weeks left here in Carlisle, which seems like so little time.  But Jesus says "give them to me" and we trust that He can do great things with them.  We pray that God will use us and do His work through us as we lead His sheep on Thursday night.

God, we give you this time we have left.  We have less than two weeks, and it seems like so little time, but we know that You can do great things with the little we have to offer you.  Thank you for being more than enough, and for making up for our inadequacies.  Jesus, thank you for being willing to use us.  We give you our time left in Carlisle for You to use however You choose.  We trust you to use us and the little time we have to offer to do great things for Your Kingdom.  May You receive all the glory, honor, and praise.  Amen.
